Allston/Brighton
The Silhouette Lounge

The first thing you notice is the cigarette smoke. It's thick and the next day your clothes reek of it. But if you can handle that and want a good game of darts in a no-frills atmosphere, the Silhouette is not a bad choice.

The back room is devoted to darts, with five boards and electronic scoreboards. While most players bring their own, house darts are available. Games are of the winner stays variety.

Dimly lit by neon and fluorescent lights, the front room conjures thoughts of Sam Malone in a Charles Bukowski novel. A wide-screen TV shows local sports, while the TV at the bar plays video releases. The eclectic mix attracts a wide range of patrons, from neighborhood folks who remember when the Silhouette opened to college students to players on the bar's softball team.
