Doyle's
Lifetime JP resident Ed Burke purchased the pub in 1971, at a time when many thought it crazy to invest in that part of town. Finding the live entertainment market too competitive, Doyle's began offering food in 1978. In addition to burgers and steak tips, it offers pizza, bratwurst plates, and shepherd's pie. With three spacious rooms, Doyle's has ample seating for both dining and drinking. Burke says he runs "a tight joint" to keep the atmosphere pleasant. "If someone comes in here and is loud and disruptive, I don't care who it is, he's got to go. It's not worth it to me to have someone driving away my customers." A fine collection of single malt scotch (about 65 varieties) and small batch bourbon doesn't hurt either.
