Victims of the Boston flights
American Airlines Flight 11
David Retik, 33, of Needham: General partner with Alta Communications Partners, a Boston venture capital firm. His wife, Susan, is seven months pregnant and the couple have two young children. A rising star at Alta, he was beloved by his colleagues and played on the firm's basketball team.
Jean Roger, 24, of Longmeadow: A flight attendant.
Philip Rosenzweig, 47, of Acton: Director of Horizontal Scaling within Sun Microsystems' Software Systems Group. He was a 1967 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology. He leaves his wife, Lauren; two sons, Jeremy and Max; a brother; and his parents.
Richard Ross, 58, of Newton: Headed management consulting company, the Ross Group, at the Prudential Tower in Boston. He was an enthusiastic sailor on his 34-foot sloop, and enjoyed late afternoon excursions out of Rockport with his family. He was on a business trip.
Jessica Sachs, 22, of Billerica: A recent graduate of University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Sachs worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor and was traveling on business. She leaves her parents and an older brother and sister.
Rahma Salie, 28, of Boston: Graduated from Wellesley College in 1996. Salie was traveling with her husband of three years, Michael Theodoridis. The couple was headed to the wedding of a friend in Tokyo, where Salie grew up.
Heather Smith, 30, of Boston: Worked at Beacon Capital Partners for just eight weeks. She was heading to California on business. "Heather Smith was a young and gifted financial analyst starting out on a highly promising career," said Alan M. Leventhal, CEO of Beacon. She was engaged to Mike Jammen of Boston.
Dianne Snyder, 42, of Westport: Flight attendant. She had a husband, John, and two children, 11 and 14. The family had moved to this area from Connecticut two years ago. Snyder was a 19-year employee of American and frequently flew the Boston-to-West-Coast routes. Her husband told the community's Westport Shorelines paper that she had recently scaled back to part-time.
Douglas J. Stone, 54, of Dover, N.H.: Co-owned Odyssey Press, a book printing company in Dover. He leaves his ex-wife, Beth, and a son, Zachary, who both live in Fountain Valley, Calif. He was traveling to California on business.
Xavier Suarez: Passenger.
Madeline "Amy" Sweeney, 35, of Acton: A flight attendant. Sweeney is the mother of two children, 4 and 5. She relayed information about the hijacking to her supervisor by cellphone.
