Susan MacKay, 42, of Westford: Assistant vice president of merchandise planning for TJX. She and her husband, Doug, have two children, Matthew, 13, and Lauren, 8. "The focus of her life was her family," said a family spokesman.

Tom McGuinness, 42, from Portsmouth, N.H. He moved to Portsmouth about a year ago with his wife, Cheryl, and their teenage son and daughter. McGuinness was active in Bethany Church in Greenland, said friends and neighbors. "I just think he set an example for all of us, and we're going to sorely miss him," said Rick DeKoven, administrator at Bethany Church.

Karen Martin, 40, of Danvers: Flight attendant. She regularly flew the Boston-Los Angeles route because her brother lives there. Martin was an athlete who loved to ski and a graduate of Danvers High School. She leaves two brothers and a sister.

Christopher Mello, 25, of Boston: Analyst at the Boston venture capital firm Alta Communications Partners. He was raised in Rye, N.Y. He was captain of his high school football team and played rugby at Princeton University, where he studied psychology. He had a girlfriend and enjoyed playing golf.

Antonio Montoya: Passenger.

Carlos Montoya: Passenger.

Laura Lee Morabito, 34, of Framingham: National sales manager for Qantas Airways. She was traveling to a business meeting in California. Friends and family described Morabito as caring and generous. She had worked for Qantas for 14 years. She leaves behind a husband. "The first time you ever met Laura, you felt like you knew her for a lifetime," said a close family friend, Jeanne Tarby. "She always made you feel comfortable and important."

The Rev. Jeffrey P. Mladenik, 43, of Hinsdale, Ill.: Interim president at eLogic, and pastor at Christ Church in Oak Broook, Ill. He was ordained in 1999. He was traveling on business. He leaves his wife, Sue, and four children: Kelly, 21; Josh, 18; Dan, 16; and Grace, 4.
