Michael C. Tarrou, 38, of Stafford Springs, Conn.: Flight attendant, along with his girlfriend, Amy R. King. Tarrou had been working for United Air Lines for about 10 years. Divorced, he had recently taken a two-week vacation to be with his 11-year-old daughter in Clearwater, Fla. Tarrou loved flying, said his uncle, Basil Tarrou. "He was crazy about his job."

Alicia Nicole Titus, of Boston: Flight attendant. She grew up in west-central Ohio. Her grandmother, Olivia Titus, called Alicia "one in a million."

Tim Ray Ward, 38, of San Diego: Program manager for information technology at Rubio's Baja Grill, a restaurant chain. Ward was on a pleasure trip with his girlfriend of 10 years, Linda Brewton, who remained in Boston. He leaves his parents. "He was my rock," said his mother, Suzie Ward Baker. "I even feel him around me now telling me, 'You can get through this.' "

William M. Weems, 46, of Marblehead: Weems was a freelance TV commercial producer. He was en route to Los Angeles to start making a television ad for a client of the Mullen Agency in Wenham, for whom he did many projects. He has a wife and daughter.
