889 Q Do you remember the taking of the Dachau Concentration Camp?

A Yes, sir.

890 Q I believe the 45th Division News recites that you were one of the first to reach the stockade fence?

A Yes, sir.

891 Q Will you describe to me what part of the stockade fence you reached?

A I don't know about the distance. We hit it on our left flank, that would be to the left of the main gate. We crossed a canal, which ran along the side of this fence. We crossed it on a little bridge. Down at the lower end of this canal there was a dam. It wasn't exactly a dam it was a concrete thing and a fence ran over the canal at that point. That was several hundred yards to our left.

892 Q Did you cross this canal in the vicinity of the crematorium or dog kennels?

A The crematorium was on our left.

893 Q And the main gate into the stockade was farther to your right?

A That is correct, sir.

894 Q Did you notice a guard tower just to the right of the bridge you used in crossing this canal?

A Yes, sir.

895 Q When did you first see German soldiers in this tower or coming from this tower?
