Making a large chalk flag was a neighborhood project for, clockwise from top left, Sammy Axtman, Christi Gunsch, both 11, Kelsey Graner, 10, and Mitch Graner, 8, who worked together on the project in Bismarck, N.D. The large flag started taking form on Sunday after Kelsey came up with the idea on her way home from church. The young chalk artists also received support from neighbors who brought over boxes of chalk to help with the rendention of Old Glory.
