COVER STORY SIDEBAR

People-watching

Plant yourself almost anywhere on Mass. Ave., and you're bound to see something strange walk by. Here are some prime locations behind picture windows.

The Wrap. A cheap-eats favorite across from Berklee. You may spot someone who'd be perfect for your band.

Blue Cat Cafe. Get a booth with a view and watch for clients of Tribal Ways piercing, across the street.

Starbucks or Buzzys Fabulous Roast Beef. Both are relative newcomers to the busy block near Prospect Street, in Cambridge. Your choice depends on whether you want to support the gentrification or the greasification of Central Square.

Temple Bar. This upscale spot has huge booths and ceiling lamps that look like oversized hat boxes. On warm days, the streetside wall is removed entirely.

Porter Square Cafe and Diner. A large eatery with friendly crowds and an all-day breakfast menu.
