In Baghdad's al-Fardous Square, a crowd of Iraqis attacked a statue of Hussein, first throwing shoes at the figure, then chipping away at its marble base, then attempting to pull it over using ropes. With the help of a US Marine armored vehicle, the statue eventually was toppled.
