  Expected race day street closings

Many streets along the Boston Marathon course will be closed to traffic on race day, Monday, April 17. Some streets in Boston will be closed even earlier to allow officials to set up the finish area. Here is a list of road closings by community.

Boston

All streets around Copley Square (from 6 a.m.); all streets east of Massachusetts Avenue (from 10 a.m.); and all streets west of Massachusetts Ave. (from 11:30 a.m.). Massachusetts Turnpike Exit 22 eastbound (Copley Square) will be closed at 10 a.m.

Beacon Street: from Chestnut Hill Avenue to Brookline town line (Cleveland Circle). The entire length of Beacon Street in Brookline is closed since it is part of the race's route.
Berkeley Street: from Columbus Avenue to Newbury Street.
Boylston Street: from Massachusetts Avenue to Arlington Street.
Chestnut Hill Avenue: from Commonwealth avenue to Brookline town line (Ayr Road).
Clarendon Street: from Commonwealth Avenue to Stuart Street.
Cleveland Circle
Commonwealth Avenue: from Beacon Street to Gloucester Street and from Newton city line (Lake Street) to Chestnut Hill Avenue.
Dalton Street: from Belvidere Street to Boylston Street.
Dartmouth Street: from St. James Avenue to Newbury Street.
Exeter Street: from Commonwealth Avenue to Huntington Avenue.
Fairfield Street: from Boylston Street to Newbury Street.
Gloucester Street: from Commonwealth Avenue to Boylston Street.
Hereford Street: from Commonwealth Avenue to Boylston Street.
Massachusetts Avenue: from Beacon Street to Belvidere Street.
Newbury Street: from Fairfield Street to Massachusetts Avenue.
Providence Street: from Arlington Street to Berkeley Street.
Public Alley #440: from Exeter Street to Dartmouth Street.
St. James Avenue: from Arlington Street to Dartmouth Street.
Stuart Street: from Arlington Street to Dartmouth Street.
Trinity Place: from St. James Avenue to Mass. Turnpike on-ramp.

Suburbs

Brookline: Beacon Street (Rte. 9A) will be closed Monday from approximately noon to 4:30 p.m.

Newton: Washington Street (Rte. 16) and Commonwealth Ave. (Rte. 30) will close Monday from approximately 11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Wellesley: Central Street (Rte. 135) and Washington Street (Rte. 16) will close Monday from approximately 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Natick: East and West Central streets (Rte. 135) will close Monday from approximately 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Framingham: Waverly Street (Rte. 135) will close Monday from approximately 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ashland: Union Street and Waverly Street (Rte. 135) will close Monday from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Hopkinton: East Main Street (Rte. 135) will close Monday from approximately 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
