FUTURE SHOT

By Steve Morse, Globe Staff, 02/28/2002

Folk legend Rosalie Sorrels celebrates 40 years in the business at Sanders Theatre on March 23. She'll perform with a band that includes Mitch Greenhill. Also on the show are David Bromberg, Christine Lavin, Jean Ritchie, Peggy Seeger, Loudon Wainwright III, and Patrick Sky, who will do a tribute to Dave Van Ronk. Tickets $21, $27, and $30. Call 617-496-2222.

Tony Bennett swings back to play Symphony Hall on June 3. It benefits the Commmitee to End Elder Homelessness. Tickets are $50, $85, $150, $250, and up to $20,000 for a table for 10, which includes dinner and a VIP reception. They go on sale March 1 through Ticketmaster or by mail order. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with $2 handling to Committee to End Elder Homelessness Inc., PO Box 990801, Boston, MA 02199.

Appalachian guitar legend Doc Watson doesn't make it up to New England much anymore, so it's a treat that he's headlining the Club Passim benefit at Sanders Theatre on March 29. Lori McKenna, Geoff Muldaur, and the Be Good Tanyas share the bill. Tickets range from $35-$100. Call 617-496-2222 or 617-495-1642.

Local Songstreet Productions has booked its first-ever rock festival at the Somerville Theater on Feb. 23. Performers include Indigo Girls friend Michelle Malone (in photo), Jim's Big Ego, Helicopter Helicopter, Deb Talan, and Antigone Rising. Tickets range from $25.50-$17.75. Call 617-628-3390.

California's gift to zany pop-rock and ska music _ otherwise known as the band No Doubt _ is hitting the road again. Singer Gwen Stefani and Co. will play the increasingly popular Tsongas Arena in Lowell, probably the second week of April. Look for tickets to go on sale in March.

Amy Fairchild is a sharp New York singer-songwriter who is ready to come into her own. Her new album, "Mr. Heart," will be released, appropriately, on Valentine's Day, followed by a concert at Cambridge's House of Blues on Feb. 27. For info, call 617-497-2229.
